The
Fischell Machinery TCS Tree Counter was prototyped and tested
using a single-row setup. It was mounted to a Farmall Super
A running in second gear at a speed of 3-5/8 MPH.
Rows
consisted of trees measuring 1/4" to 3/8" in diameter.
Trees were spaced at approximately 8" intervals. Each
row contained 100 trees. 20 rows were counted, for a total
of 2000 trees.
During
this trial the TCS Tree Counter recorded 2006 trees, for an
accuracy of 99.7% at a speed of 3-5/8 MPH.
This
speed is approximately three times faster than a person walking
along the row with a hand-held click counter.
The
TCS Tree Counter can be used as a single-row setup as shown,
or it can be scaled up to count up to four rows simultaneously.
This setup dramatically increases productivity while maintaining
the exceptionally high accuracy.
Up
for four counter units can be mounted to any type of tractor.
Each unit displays count information in a single easy-to-read
display that can mount conveniently next to the driver.
